Welcome to Year 6!
Your teacher this year is Miss Coates.
The expectation at Grange Park is that every child reads, every night. Please encourage your child to read to you or another adult at home to maintain our high reading standards. Feel free to use our fluency scoring system at home too:
- Professional: accurate reading with most words read correctly.
World Class: smooth and accurate reading. Always pauses at full stops and commas.
Legendary: smooth and accurate reading. Always pauses at full stops and commas. Uses appropriate expression.
Homework will be given out on a Monday; each child will receive Power Maths and Power Literacy homework (from their Power Maths and Literacy teachers). Homework will be linked to topics the children have been learning about and are encouraged to complete it independently. Homework should be completed and handed in to the relevant teacher by Friday morning. Please ensure children look at their homework earlier in the week to ensure they have enough time to ask for help when necessary.
If your child needs help with their maths homework, they can access www.mathsisfun.com
P.E will be on a Monday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their Grange Park P.E. kit in school every Monday — including appropriate footwear as some session may be outdoors. If your child attends a lunch time sports club they will also require their Grange Park P.E. kit.
